Create updo with styleVanessa lit up the red carpet at the 58th Annual Creative Arts Emmy Awards with this sassy upstyle. Her length was used to flow her hair down from her crown area to achieve a unique look. This option will suit most face shapes and thick hair textures.

Wavy strands were left around the face to soften the style. Height in the crown area was left with a messy look.

Vanessa is wearing a choppy, layered medium hairstyle with a center part and long side swept fringe pieces. The ends are styles to be piecey and choppy with a slight wave.

This particular hair style, see photo right, will require frequent trims to keep all the layers in place. Also, hair styling products such as foam, lotion or mousse may be required to keep the layers from frizzing up. This style is not recommended for those with frizzy hair.

Apply a small amount of pomade to this style to create the piecey look for the ends. Another great styling option is to apply a curl enhancing hair product to damp hair and blow dry using a diffuser attachment. Use just your fingers (not a brush) to shape and position the hair and allow any natural wave or culr to show up. Once the hair is dry, add soft waves throughout using a medium barrel curling iron.

Hair Color Features

Hair color can be a great tool to completely change your look. In general, if you go lighter in color, it will brighten up your look. It is also a popular choice for warmer months as everyone wants to have sun-kissed hair.

The length and layers in this smooth sassy hairstyle is enough to make any head turn. The front jagged cut layers adds plenty of shape to the jaw-line while the back length falls down to mid-back for a magnificent finish. To complete this slick yet sexy look, highlights are added all over to create contrast.

Highlights and lowlights or a mixture of both will create a more dimensional look that has depth.
